The Vanishing American (DVD)
A video record of American railroading in the 1950's. In 1952,
a group of Eastman Kodak employees and Kodak Camera Club members
recorded the passing scene of local passenger service. The steam
powered passenger activity on the Baltimore & Ohio RR (nee
Buffalo, Rochester & Pittsburgh Railway) from Rochester,
NY south to Salamanca, NY was captured on 16mm film. The sound
placed on the program was recorded live on magnetic recorders
and later placed on the optical sound track of the Ektachrome
duplicates.
